There are 10 or more Catholic colleges and universities in 6 states…California, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Twelve states… Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, South Carolina, Utah, and Wyoming…have no Catholic institutions of higher education.
Catholic colleges have long been the choice of American Catholic students who seek educational programs and campus environments influenced by their faith. In addition, they have always welcomed and attracted a significant number of international students and students of other faiths at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
