Universities in Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania colleges and universities offer two and four year degree programs. Among the many traditional four year colleges and universities in Pennsylvania are Albright College, Allegheny College, Bucknell University, Carnegie Mellon University, Dickinson College, Drexel University, Gettysburg College, Haverford College, Lafayette College, Lehigh University, Muhlenberg College, Pennsylvania State University, Swarthmore College, and University of Pennsylvania. Generally, these colleges require completion of a liberal arts core curriculum in addition to coursework in a major field of study, and offer majors in subject areas (English, history, philosophy, Spanish, etc.) which may not be designed to prepare students for a particular career as well as majors (accounting, business, pre-law, education, journalism, engineering) which are career specific.

In many instances, career colleges, technical colleges and vocational schools offer programs that can be completed in under two years.
