Universities in South Dakota
South Dakota colleges and universities offer two and four year degree programs. The list of South Dakota traditional four year colleges includes Augustana College, Black Hills State University, Northern State University, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, South Dakota State University, and University of South Dakota. Generally, these colleges require completion of a liberal arts core curriculum in addition to coursework in a major field of study, and offer majors in subject areas (English, history, philosophy, Spanish, etc.) which may not be designed to prepare students for a particular career as well as majors (accounting, business, pre-law, education, journalism, engineering) which are career specific.
