Universities in Tennessee
Tennessee colleges and universities offer two and four year degree programs. The list of Tennessee traditional four year colleges includes Austin Peay State University, Christian Brothers University, Maryville College, Rhodes College, Tennessee Technological University, University of the South, University of Tennessee, and Vanderbilt University. Generally, these colleges require completion of a liberal arts core curriculum in addition to coursework in a major field of study, and offer majors in subject areas (English, history, philosophy, Spanish, etc.) which may not be designed to prepare students for a particular career as well as majors (accounting, business, pre-law, education, journalism, engineering) which are career specific.
