Universities in Texas
Texas colleges and universities offer two and four year degree programs. Texas is home to numerous traditional colleges and universities including Austin College, Lamar University, Rice University, St. Mary’s University, Southern Methodist University, Southwestern University, Texas A&M University, Texas Tech University, Trinity University, University of Dallas, University of Houston, and University of Texas. Generally, these colleges require completion of a liberal arts core curriculum in addition to coursework in a major field of study, and offer majors in subject areas (English, history, philosophy, Spanish, etc.) which may not be designed to prepare students for a particular career as well as majors (accounting, business, pre-law, education, journalism, engineering) which are career specific.
